In my career I have developed critical leadership skills and gained invaluable experience working collaboratively to solve complex problems among groups with competing interests. As a commissioner on the West Richland salary commission, I voted against salary increases for the city’s elected officials. As vice chair of the West Richland Citizens Group, I led successful efforts to keep recreational marijuana stores out of our city. As board president for several local non-profit organizations, I am experienced in strategic planning, leadership development and fiscal management. As a volunteer and supporter of veteran causes, I have learned the strength of reliable partnerships. These experiences have taught me to listen well, ask questions and to maintain mission focus in decision-making.
In every leadership position, I am committed to a solid work ethic, integrity, persistence and perseverance in tough seasons. I believe in action-oriented servant leadership and that all good performance starts with clear goals. Our city’s vision statement says West Richland is “a growing city where family values and community responsiveness are important. The city should grow in a balanced way to produce a safe and inviting community having good residential alternatives and a healthy economic base.” I agree with that vision and believe those values are essential for responsible growth, a healthy and vibrant business climate, strong neighborhoods and a community where everyone can thrive.
